TERRITORY IS ARCHITECTURE (Sapienza Urban Morphology Course – lect.3)

Some students of my UM course asked me to publish the pp of the last lecture on territory. The slides are here presented without the overlapping drawings I made during the lecture (lost when the file was closed). It might be a good exercise for them to redraw the route’s hierarchy on the mute bases.

The forming process of the Algerian territory

Salah Eddine Heffaf – Amar Telidji University

The lecture will present the formation and transformation process of the built environment, at territorial scale, in the Ouled Nail and Djebel Amour mounts, following the principle of organicity such as developed in the Muratorian thought. This reading makes it possible to distinguish periods of relative stability, during which the territorial organism was endowed with all the values of the type, from periods of imbalance induced by the various waves of colonization.

KNOWLEDGE ALLIANCE FOR EVIDENCE BASED URBAN PRACTICES
urban morphology

Kaebup International Lectures is a series of web and in attendance meetings intended to investigate the relations between the discipline of Urban Morphology and Architectural Design.
The initiative relies on the contributions of the international research group Kaebup and of the Sapienza University Urban Morphology Course in Rome. The series of lectures aims to present different methods of reading the built landscape and ways of translating research into evidence-based design. The series of lectures has been organized in the belief that combining research and practice could open up new aspects of the disciplinary debate on the tools of the architectural design.
